Please Note: Each certification program has the authority to determine the content of its own exams. Not all programs use the ABC Testing Service, and not all Testing Service Clients use ABC standardized exams. Please contact the certifying authority for your state, province, or geopolitical region for information provided to examinees regarding suggested reference materials.
ABC Formula/Conversion Tables
An ABC Formula/Conversion Table is provided in each standardized test book as reference for the examinee. The formulas and conversions in the tables should be used to solve calculations on the exam. The tables are provided here in PDF format for the following certification categories.

The following questions are provided as examples of the types of questions that will be covered on ABC certification exams. You will not find any of these questions duplicated on a certification exam, so don't try to memorize the questions and answers.

Study Guides and Practice Exams
ABC works with AWWA and WEF to develop guides to help operators prepare for the exam. ABC does not currently sell study guides or training manuals, but is frequently contacted about them. Study guides may be purchased from:
The Very Small Water System Operators' Guidebook to Preparing for Certification was developed by ABC for US EPA. The purpose of the Guidebook is to assist operators of very small community and nontransient noncommunity public water systems by providing a job task Guidebook that relates to the critical knowledge required to competently operate their water systems. The Guidebook identifies the relevant provisions of the EPA Guidelines, job responsibilities and job tasks (NTK), exam specifications, review questions, and additional information relating to training, technical references, and information resources.
