Types of Memberships
ABC serves its membership as a connection to the certification world, a voice for international certification issues and a tool to build lifelong, professional relationships. — We invite your program to join us.
ABC is a communication network and resource center for certifying authorities, representing our membership on certification matters to national and international governmental agencies, organizations and professional associations.
Our membership makes up a diverse group of programs which fall under three categories:

Regulatory Membership
Governmental agencies or their designee that have jurisdiction to administer environmental certification or licensing programs and meet the criteria established by the Association are granted Regulatory Membership. Regulatory program class membership holds the right to nominate, vote and hold office, along with other membership benefits.
Voluntary Membership
Organizations without governmental jurisdiction to administer environmental certification or licensing programs are granted Voluntary Membership with approval from the Association.
Eligibility is limited to voluntary environmental certification and licensing programs that:
- Administer their own certification exams only in classifications not offered by the ABC Testing Service
or - Qualify as ABC Testing Service clients and administer to ABC certification exams.
Voluntary program class membership can nominate for any position, hold the office of At-Large Division Director, and vote for Officers and At-Large Division Director along with other membership benefits.
Provisional Membership
At ABC, we work not only to assist existing certification programs, but to provide resources for programs needing assistance implementing a certification program. Provisional Program Membership fills the need for programs who want opportunities to network with other industry professionals, keep informed of the latest in certification news with The Certifier and other ABC publications.
While the provisional membership class cannot vote, nominate, hold office or have representation on the Board of Directors, members can still access the wealth of resources found at ABC and make the most of their membership. As the program meets the criteria and is approved by the Board of Directors, Regulatory or Voluntary Member status may be granted.

Annual Membership Dues for Regulatory and Voluntary Memberships
Annual membership dues for Regulatory and Voluntary membership (listed below) are calculated according to the number of persons certified. Each person certified should be counted only once, regardless of the number of certificates held.
